About the role

Do you want to be an important part of the energy transition? Vattenfall Services is Sweden's leading contracting company in the energy and power sector with a focus on a sustainable future. We are now looking for a Department Manager for our station operations in Värmland who wants to be part of the journey towards a fossil-free life. Is this you? Together we make a difference, for the whole of society.

The Värmland substation department (Karlstad and Säffle with surroundings) works in the voltage range 0.4-400 kV with maintenance, projects and fault rectification in switchgear, control systems and other electrical power equipment. Our customers are mainly industries and some major energy companies.

As Head of Department you have full responsibility for the work environment, finances and results for a group of about 10 employees. We see that Värmland is an expansive region, which means opportunities to grow both with new business and number of employees.

In your group you have two project managers / service managers who manage and plan the daily operations and ensure the delivery of our agreements. We have two locations in the region, Säffle and Karlstad. Most of the technicians are stationed at home.

As a Department Manager, you work with the development of employees and operations in a business environment where safety has the highest priority. Examples of responsibilities and tasks:

  • Personnel and resource planning - keeping you and the department up to date on services and safe working methods and working for further development and follow-up of methods and our delivery
  • Finance - forecasting, budget, performance and business follow-up and analysis of the business
  • Customer contacts and development of existing and new business
  • Be involved in procurement, tender and contract management

The department is part of the Stations South business area. You will report to the Business Area Manager and be part of a management team of nine managerial colleagues. We know that we work best together and in the role you are given great opportunity to influence and contribute to the continued growth and development of the entire business area.

Requirements

We are looking for a leader with the ability to motivate and develop their employees. You are open, responsive and set clear expectations, thereby creating a high level of participation and commitment. You thrive on the commercial side and are driven by doing good business without losing focus on work environment and safety. Finally, you are collaborative and have a good ability to interact both within and outside the organization.

Your background

  • Experience from the construction industry - preferably in electrical power but you could also come from construction, infrastructure or industry
  • Experience in customer and supplier relations, financial follow-up and contract management
  • Communicate fluently in Swedish in speech and writing
  • B-driving license and the ability to travel within the geography Säffle/Karlstad
  • Experience as a leader with personnel responsibility we see as meritorious
