About the role

We at Vattenfall Eldistribution are growing and also in the operations monitoring business we are getting more. The demands to always have access to electricity in society are increasing and it is becoming more and more complex to run our electricity networks and ensure that electricity always arrives. As we invest more, we need to become more and find more efficient ways to do this.

The Local Grid Operations Monitoring department is responsible for maximizing the capacity and availability of the electricity network for our customers. We do this by leading operational management, monitoring and controlling the network and managing issues and faults related to our facilities. Our focus is on maintaining electrical safety and security for staff, facilities and the public. We are also responsible for ensuring a good physical work environment and sustainable shift work in the operations center.

Today we are about 20 employees in the department, all located at our office in Trollhättan. The department belongs to the unit for operational monitoring, which consists of five departments. Four of these work with monitoring and controlling the electricity network, two for local networks and two for regional networks. The fifth department focuses on customer relations in connection with outages and handles fault reports.

As Head of Department, you will lead inspire and engage our employees within your mission responsibility and ensure that set goals are achieved. In your mission, you and your colleagues will create the conditions for our success by working towards common company and unit goals. You will work in the Supervision Management Team. The position suits you who sees all employees and likes to tackle challenges at the intersection of technology, customer and society.

Examples of tasks

  • Lead and drive routine work and participate in the tactical and strategic work at unit level
  • Communicate outage information to customers and stakeholders (society and internal) in close cooperation with the fault notification
  • Analyze recurring disturbances and transient faults
  • Optimize operations and implement proposed measures on the local network
  • Initiate measures in the event of disturbances or deviations in our facilities
  • Assist within and outside the unit with knowledge of how operational reliability and availability of the network are maintained
  • Drives, supports and resources the daily management of the operations center (DC Coordinator)
  • Resource with operational knowledge in development work within the company

Requirements specification

We are looking for you who have experience of working with operational monitoring in the energy industry, it is meritorious to have a relevant academic degree. You need to have leadership experience from previous management positions. We see it as an advantage if you have previously worked in a management team. You are driven by developing both people and working methods and have the ability to inspire and make your employees grow and feel involved in the change work together with colleagues within the company.

The business is conducted around the clock, which requires you to be able to quickly understand different situations in order to be able to prioritize correctly, identify appropriate solutions and make informed decisions. You will have many contacts with both internal and external parties, which is why the ability and willingness to collaborate, influence and contribute to the development of the business is important. Furthermore, you have good communication skills, both written and oral, and feel comfortable taking questions from our partners. To communicate your decisions and business challenges, you have the ability to create presentations and reports in both Swedish and English.
