UL operates Forsmark with buses that have a wireless network on the Gävle-Forsmark and Uppsala-Forsmark routes, which gives you the opportunity to use travel time as working time if/when work allows. Buses to and from Forsmark are adapted to the working hours of daytime staff. You also have the opportunity to use our remote workplaces in Gävle and Uppsala or work from home if/when work allows.

As Head of Unit Environment and Work Environment you will be a key person in the Protection department at Forsmark. The department is responsible for managing operational issues in the areas of protection of human health, the plant and the environment. The Environment and Work Environment unit is central to this work and is responsible for performing, developing and managing tasks in the external environment, dangerous goods, human performance, electrical safety and work environment and protective equipment. The unit's mission includes, among other things:

• A daily support to the line operations to develop, evaluate and follow up experiences, improvement opportunities and measures in each area
• Provide technical support in each area to the responsible management so that it can systematically plan, implement and follow up the activities so that the requirements are met
• Monitor and interpret internal and external requirements in the unit's areas and develop the company's common working methods
• Maintain contacts with the authorities and handle permit and exemption cases in each area.

About the job

The role of Head of Unit for Environment and Work Environment is suitable for those who want to combine a present leadership with an important social mission in a complex industrial environment. Your main task is to maintain and develop the unit's work to support and develop Forsmark's operations within the unit's areas of responsibility.

The unit is in a phase of gradual development where your ability to create structure, develop competence and build trust in the teams will be central. The focus of the unit's work is now to further develop cooperation in an organization with many different competencies and areas of cooperation. In the coming years, Forsmark is conducting an ongoing competence and ability increase in the work environment, where the unit's work is of great importance in driving and developing the work.

To succeed in the role, we would like you to have experience of leading employees in different professional roles and work environments and that you see collaboration as a natural and important part of leadership.

The unit consists of about 12 employees who work in the unit's areas of responsibility.

The duties consist of but are not limited to:

• Management team work
• Overall responsibility for the unit's area of responsibility
• Leading and developing the unit through and together with the staff
• Responsible for the unit's short and long term finances
• Collaborating with other units within and outside the department
• Representing the Protection department in cross-functional issues

The Head of Unit reports to the Head of Protection and is part of the department's management team.

Requirements

• A college/university degree in a relevant field, or work experience deemed equivalent.
• A confident leader and manager with a passion for understanding and developing both business and employees
• Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as good knowledge of English
• Experience in the work environment in, for example, government or industry is an advantage.

We are looking for a leader who is driven to work with a group that works with several subject areas, understand your staff and the various challenges they face. You have the ability to understand and familiarize yourself with the different subject areas. As the unit supports all of Forsmark's operations, you will be able to both personally, but also encourage your staff to make contacts with functions outside your own department. This will create a wide network of contacts in Forsmark. We believe that you thrive to work both strategically as a unit manager and part of the department's management team, but also operationally with direct reports in your team.
