As Head of Unit for Operational Radiation Protection, you will be a key person in the Protection department at Forsmark. The department is responsible for managing operational issues in the areas of protection of human health, the plant and the environment. The Operational Radiation Protection unit is central to this work and is responsible for performing, developing and managing tasks in radiology and operational radiation protection. The unit's tasks include:

• Continuous monitoring of the radiological status of the facilities, including dose rate and contamination
• Provision of expertise and resources in operational protection, radiophysics, radiochemistry and dosimetry
• Radiation protection training
• Management of external transportation of dangerous goods
• Inventory, documentation and administration of radioactive sources

About the job

The unit consists of four groups with a total of approximately 40 staff members. During audit shutdowns, up to 80 staff members are added in shifts, which places high demands on leadership, planning and operational coordination. You have direct personnel responsibility for four team leaders and indirect responsibility for both employees and contracted staff.

The role of Head of Unit for Operational Radiation Protection is suitable for those who want to combine a present leadership with an important social mission in a complex industrial environment. Your main task is to maintain and develop the unit's operational work to ensure a good status of radiation protection.

The unit is in a phase of gradual development, where your ability to create structure, develop competence and build trust in the teams will be central. Together with your team leaders, you will have the opportunity to shape a common direction and help establish an active and sustainable work culture.

The unit focuses on further developing cooperation and promoting a good working environment in an organization with many different competencies and areas of cooperation. To succeed in the role, we would like you to have experience of leading employees in different professional roles and work environments and to see collaboration as a natural and important part of leadership.

The radiation protection area is technically complex and regulated - therefore it is important that you have a curious approach and a desire to understand the core of the business.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Management of the unit
• Overall responsibility for the unit's area of responsibility
• Managing and developing the unit through and together with four team leaders
• Responsible for the unit's short and long term finances
• Collaborating with other units within and outside the department
• Representing the Protection Department on cross-functional issues

The Head of Unit reports to the Head of Protection and is part of the department's management team

Requirements

• Engineering degree preferably with a focus on physics/chemistry or equivalent work experience
• Safe leader and manager with a passion for understanding and developing both operations and employees
• Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as good knowledge of English
• Experience in maintenance, radiation protection or industry with a high safety mindset is an advantage
