Company description

Forsmark nuclear power plant is one of the largest electricity producers in Sweden and we produce one sixth of the electricity consumed in Sweden. Nuclear electricity has a very low fossil footprint and is a stable and weather-independent power source. Since 1980, our three production plants have delivered climate-smart electricity every day, all year round.

About 1,200 employees work at Forsmark today and we are part of the Vattenfall Group, which operates in a European labor market with opportunities for fantastic development for you as an employee. Our workplace is beautifully located along the beautiful Roslag coast.

UL operates Forsmark with buses that have a wireless network on the Gävle-Forsmark and Uppsala-Forsmark routes, which gives you the opportunity to use travel time as working time if/when work allows. Buses to and from Forsmark are adapted to the working hours of daytime staff. You also have the opportunity to use our remote workplaces in Gävle and Uppsala or work from home if/when work allows.

About the role

Do you want to be part of contributing to fossil-free energy production?

We are working together to make Sweden fossil-free. To achieve our goal, we need committed employees who want to work at one of Sweden's largest electricity producers and at the same time contribute to a better climate on our planet.

Now we are looking for an engineer in nuclear fuel for the fuel technology group at Forsmark Power Group.

Forsmark's Fuel Technology Group plays an important role in Forsmark's nuclear operations. Here we work with advanced technical issues related to nuclear fuel, control rods and safeguards, and act as a support to the entire organization. We run projects in core and fuel - everything from core modifications and fuel repairs to the purchase of control rods and qualification of new fuel types. It's an area where technology meets safety, and where you get to influence both strategic decisions and practical solutions. We are a small tight group where everyone works closely and supports each other.

Your tasks

In this role, you will have a central function within Safeguard, where you are responsible for keeping track of Forsmark's uranium holdings and coordinating inspections with international actors such as IAEA, EURATOM and SSM. You will also plan and coordinate outbound shipments of spent nuclear fuel and control rods. The work involves both short-term tasks and long-term strategies, in close collaboration with colleagues at Vattenfall, SKB and other nuclear power plants in Sweden. It is a role where you get to combine technical precision with collaboration across organizational boundaries - and where your work has a direct impact on the safety and efficiency of our operations.

You will also:

  • Drive regulatory issues linked to safeguards.
  • Conduct investigations in the nuclear fuel area.
  • Conduct external monitoring and participate in conferences where you bring new insights to Forsmark.
  • In the long term, participate in inspections of nuclear fuel and control rods.

With us, you get the opportunity to develop your skills. We offer a stimulating work with nuclear fuel where safety, quality and technology are at the center. You will have a clear responsibility in a team that is characterized by collaboration, knowledge dissemination and continuous competence development.

Requirement specification

We are looking for you who have:

  • A university/civil engineering degree or equivalent experience in, for example, energy technology, technical physics or similar.
  • Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both in speech and writing.

Additional:

  • Experience from nuclear operations.

We believe that you are a person who is easy to create trust and build long-term relationships, both internally and externally. You have a structured and meticulous way of working, while being pragmatic and solution-oriented. Communication is one of your strengths - you enjoy expressing yourself clearly and with commitment, both orally and in writing.

The role means that you independently collect information, analyze data and produce reports, which means that you need to feel confident in expressing yourself in text. At the same time, you are a team player who appreciates collaboration and finds it easy to work together with colleagues from different parts of the organization.
