Business Unit (BU) Vattenfall Power Solutions is a business unit of approximately 650 people within Business Area (BA) Vattenfall Generation that trains personnel in Swedish nuclear power, delivers nuclear fuel to Vattenfall's nuclear power plants, develops and implements projects and assignments, and provides internal technical specialist services for all of Vattenfall's operations, Group staffs and stakeholders. This includes activities such as development and provision of training, project management and project support, analysis management and investigation, product development, nuclear safety assignments and dam safety assignments. The focus of the Vattenfall Power Solutions business unit is to develop our capabilities in project management and selected key technical disciplines. We work actively with continuous improvement initiatives and development of our models, where our work and competence create great value for Vattenfall and its investments.


About the role

Do you have industrial experience in nuclear technology, nuclear chemistry or radiophysics and want to help shape the energy sector of the future? With us, you will take on one of the most important challenges of our time and get to work with both existing and new nuclear power.

We are now looking for a new colleague for our Radiological Safety West group in the Technology department. You will support Vattenfall's nuclear operations in the subject area and be part of the exciting developments in nuclear power.

You will be one of 18 employees in the Radiological Safety East and West groups. The team consists of civil engineers, physicists, medical physicists and chemists with varying experience - from junior staff to senior experts. We have an open atmosphere where we support each other and deliver high quality results, even though we work in different assignments spread across the country.

Your tasks

As a specialist in the field of Radiological Safety, you will work with issues that are relevant to existing and planned nuclear facilities. The field covers issues related to the entire life cycle: from the planning of new facilities to the operation and later decommissioning of activities.

Examples of tasks in the field of radiological safety:

  • Release calculations and environmental impact assessments
  • Radiological inventories and source term analyses
  • Severe accident analyses
  • Investigations in accident preparedness, personnel radiation protection, dosimetry, radiation biology and measurement techniques
  • Radiation shielding and dose calculations

The tasks can be industry-wide or facility-specific. The variety of tasks is further influenced by your interest, your knowledge and the needs of the organization. In some assignments, you will be the assignment manager with responsibility for, among other things, progress and time monitoring, and in other assignments you will participate in projects led by others.

Requirements

Basic requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in nuclear chemistry, reactor chemistry, nuclear physics, reactor physics, radio physics or related fields
  • Multiple years of experience in nuclear engineering with focus on radiological safety, radioactivity, ionizing radiation and radiation protection
  • Facility knowledge and process knowledge
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both in speech and writing
  • B-driving license and the ability to travel in the service

Meritande:

  • Doctoral degree in relevant field
  • Management experience (technical lead, project manager or similar) and experience from customer-oriented activities
  • Experience in requirements management, safety reporting or applications under the Nuclear Activities Act
  • Experience in working within national and international networks
  • Knowledge in radiochemistry, radiation biology, personnel radiation protection or accident preparedness
  • Knowledge of Monte Carlo-based analysis tools and models for dispersion calculations.
