About the role of Optotechnician

Our main task is to offer our customers qualified services in communication systems. The fiber network we mainly work with is used for control and monitoring of electricity networks as well as rental to external customers. Most of the fiber network we work with is co-built with overhead lines of 40-400 kv.

Your main responsibilities:

• Participate in troubleshooting on our customers' fiber networks
• Perform annual maintenance measurements
• Perform repairs on Wrap cable and OPGW line
• Perform PTG replacements
• Perform measurements according to customer requests t.e.g. OTDR and power measurement
• Active participation in and planning of projects together with the project manager
• Preparing documentation on work performed
• Managing supplier and contractor contacts

Travel with overnight stays is a natural part of the work as an Opto Technician. Therefore, it is important that you are a person who enjoys a varied everyday life with the whole of southern and central Sweden as a workplace. The number of nights out varies depending on the period and workload

Requirement specification

We are looking for you who either have experience of working in fiber networks, or have a background in electrical power and are interested in developing in new areas.

You basically have an education as a fiber technician and / or an electrical power education, or practical experience that we consider equivalent. If you do not have previous work experience in fiber networks, we would like you to have experience of field work, for example as a distribution electrician. To succeed in the role, you also need to have, or be willing to undergo, training in: ESA (electrical safety instructions), pole climbing and electrical safety leadership. If you are a certified fiber technician or have experience in making OTDR measurements on longer distances, this is highly meritorious.

For this role, we place great emphasis on finding the right person. Therefore, it is important that you enjoy working service-oriented, both on your own and also in close cooperation with colleagues, subcontractors and with our customers.

When faced with unexpected situations, you solve the problems to move forward. You are communicative and find it easy to express yourself both in Swedish and English in both speech and writing. As your work is carried out in the field, a driving license B is a requirement.
