Vattenfall Vattenkraft is responsible for Vattenfall's 90 hydropower plants and approx. 300 dams in the Nordic region. We are approximately 500 employees in Sweden and Finland with headquarters in Luleå. Hydropower's renewable electricity production is a prerequisite for creating a climate-smart and fossil-free society where we play an important role as an enabler for the sustainable energy system of the future. Our production corresponds to approx. 25% of Sweden's total electricity needs. We are now looking for a power system specialist for the Power Station Technology department!

Our focus is sustainable development and management of Vattenfall's hydropower stations. Right now, we are around 15 employees with specialist knowledge in electricity production, hydropower and power station technology.

Are you experienced in hydropower technology and electricity production and very interested in areas such as calculations, control methodology, dimensioning, testing methods, analysis of production data, network codes and also an active observer of the environment? Then maybe this is a job for you!

We are looking for a power system specialist who will continue to develop and streamline our work. Examples of tasks and areas of responsibility:

  • Lead our development work for network codes, for example RFG, where it involves, among other things, internal guidelines, processes and interpretation/application of authority requirements
  • Develop testing methods for, for example, unit changes
  • Analysis and verification of test and simulation results
  • Develop new and develop existing guidelines and requirements specifications in the power system area
  • Work together with our other specialists to develop/expand our control ability on the aggregates
  • Participate in status assessments for future investments
  • Ensure that we have agreements with external suppliers at the right level and external monitoring.

The work is varied and you are offered room for action and good opportunities to be involved and influence how we develop our facilities at a time when hydropower is a very important part of Sweden's total electricity mix.

When you travel on business, you are met by magnificent hydropower facilities and knowledgeable colleagues. You will participate in feasibility studies, project implementation and offer specialist support to our maintenance and production operations.

Recurring collaborations with technical consultants, contractors and suppliers are part of the job. You may also have a role in dialogues with, for example, authorities, network companies and other hydropower producers.

Requirements specification

  • Several years of relevant work experience and a very good understanding of the structure of the power system, including experience with hydropower and electricity production
  • University or civil engineering degree in mechanical engineering, electrical power or electrical engineering.

We are looking for someone who has experience working with

  • Connection codes, RFG, plant components (in a production plant)
  • Testing methods, simulation and applied testing in hydropower plants (mechanics, electric power, flow theory)
  • Analysis, investigation, interpretation of standards and creation of requirements specifications
  • Modelling, dimensioning, optimization and control methodology
  • Technical advisory roles, environmental monitoring.

Your way of working is characterized by a strong interest in your subject areas, initiative, responsibility, collaboration, order and order. You express yourself clearly in speech and writing (both in Swedish and English) and have very good IT skills. B driver's license is a requirement when there is travel.
