Company description

Svensk Kärnbränslehantering AB, SKB, is working on one of Sweden's largest environmental protection projects. SKB's mission is to take care of all radioactive waste from the Swedish nuclear power plants. This must be done in a safe manner for both people and the environment.

Today, around 600 people are employed at SKB. We have extensive collaboration with experts and contractors outside the company.

SKB's head office is located in Arenastaden in Solna. We also have offices in Oskarshamn and Forsmark/Östhammar, where we have facilities and conduct various activities for the construction of a final repository for spent nuclear fuel.

About the role

The time has come. Together, we at SKB will build one of the world's first final disposal systems for spent nuclear fuel. A central part is the encapsulation plant that will be located adjacent to the existing interim storage facility for spent nuclear fuel, Clab, in Oskarshamn.

Your overall goal is to contribute, together with your team, to the safe and sustainable management of Swedish radioactive waste with little impact on the climate and the environment.

The work places high demands on connecting people, accelerating learning and driving innovation.

Are you ready for a big and important job that will make a difference for people and the environment for a very long time to come?

Now we are looking for a driving, experienced project manager for the Encapsulation Program who will also hold the role of unit manager for the unit of which the program is part.

Here you will work

As the encapsulation plant will be built in connection with Clab in Oskarshamn, close cooperation with the commissioned plant and other ongoing projects is of great importance. The position is therefore located in Oskarshamn and requires high presence on site.

SKB's Projects department is responsible for the implementation of programs, projects and assignments. You will be part of the Project Department's management team and report to SKB's Head of Project Department. Your immediate colleagues will be a mix of staff and consultants. Many of us working in the department lead projects or subprograms within the Nuclear Fuel Program or Program SFR Extension. Others are working on plant modifications at our existing nuclear facilities or on technology development projects.

What you will do

A project manager/program manager is responsible for keeping a number of projects together. In this role, the responsibility is to construct an encapsulation plant. In the facility, the spent nuclear fuel will be placed in copper canisters, welded together, checked and then reloaded into containers for transportation to the final repository in Forsmark. The new facility will be built together with Clab, which has been in operation since 1985.

The program will consist of a number of subprograms and a staff. The resources consist of SKB employees as well as resources from Vattenfall and consultants. As the position is closely linked to an existing nuclear facility, most of the time will need to be spent at the facility.

The program will be part of a unit where the program manager is the responsible manager with personnel responsibility for the employees belonging to the unit.

Requirements

We are looking for you who have a civil engineering degree or equivalent with a focus on construction and civil engineering and have a documented good leadership from leading positions in infrastructure projects.

You should have:

  • at least five years of experience in running projects in construction and civil engineering or infrastructure.
  • current experience in leading procurement, design and construction, preferably in collaboration.
  • experience from projects with complex requirements.
  • proven to be able to build and develop organizations adapted to the needs of the business.

It is meritorious if you have experience from nuclear activities as they are subject to special regulations. We also see it as a merit if you have worked with the implementation of new production or industrial activities. If you have worked as a contractor and/or consultant in the construction industry and have experience of working as a manager, this is also meritorious

The position requires a very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing, both in Swedish and in English. Driving license B is a requirement.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities and experience for this position. The position requires an ability and interest in building teams and leading people with different competencies. You should also have the willingness, ability and experience to work strategically and proactively. You are used to independently pursuing issues and have the ability to look at the big picture and see the context. As a person, you are creative, communicative and trustworthy in a way that allows SKB's goals to be achieved in collaboration with the project's stakeholders.
