Business Unit (BU) Fuel, Engineering & Projects is a business unit of approx. 350 people within Business Area (BA) Vattenfall Generation that supplies nuclear fuel to Vattenfall's nuclear power plants, develops and implements projects and assignments and provides internal technical specialist services for the majority of Vattenfall's operations. This means activities in the form of e.g. project management and project support, analysis management and investigation, product development, nuclear safety assignments and dam safety assignments. The focus within the Fuel, Engineering & Projects business unit is to develop our ability in project management as well as selected key technical disciplines. We work actively with continuous improvement initiatives and development of our models, where our work and expertise create great value for Vattenfall and its investments.


Vattenfall currently has five nuclear power reactors in operation. These facilities undergo constant improvements and renewals with the aim of continuing to deliver stable, safe and fossil-free electricity for many years to come.

The Waste and Environment unit within Fuel, Engineering & Projects is looking for a Senior Environmental Engineer/Environmental Specialist who wants to work with exciting and complex projects, mostly in nuclear power. Several of them are ground-breaking with new issues around demolition and decommissioning, new construction and development projects such as hydrogen production. We are also in demand in e.g. electricity distribution, wind power, hydropower and heat.

Your duties and responsibilities

As an Environmental Specialist with us, you will belong to a department with specialists in various technical areas. We work in teams and across areas of expertise to find innovative and effective solutions for our clients. Within the competence area of ​​the environment, mainly work in these areas:


Permit management (develop permit strategies, EIA, consultation documents, participate in consultations and main negotiations)

Environmental issues in projects/facilities (draw up environmental plans, control plans, requirement matrices, control programs, follow-up e.g. via round-up)

In this role, your main focus will be on supporting your colleagues in the various permit processes as well as being the one to drive the more complex issues in nuclear power related projects.


Requirements specification

Academic education in the environmental field

Preferably many years of relevant work experience from the energy and/or civil engineering industry and worked on large complex projects

You have very good experience with permit issues according to the Environmental Code

We consider experience of matters within the Planning and Building Act to be meritorious

You have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing, both in Swedish and in English

B driver's license
