Company description
Vattenfall Vattenkraft is responsible for Vattenfall's 90 hydropower plants and about 300 dams in the Nordic region. We are about 500 employees in Sweden and Finland with headquarters in Luleå. Hydropower's renewable electricity production is a prerequisite for creating a climate-smart and fossil-free society where we play an important role as an enabler for the sustainable energy system of the future. Our production corresponds to about 25% of Sweden's total electricity needs. To deliver high availability in our production, we need to constantly challenge ourselves, develop our working methods and take advantage of digital opportunities.
About the role
Do you want to have fun at work while working for a fossil-free society?
Now you have the opportunity to do so with us. To achieve our goal, we need committed employees who want to contribute to a better climate. We are making the green transition possible and are making extensive investments in our hydropower plants, which will lead to a number of exciting and varied assignments and projects in the coming years.
Are you an aspiring or more experienced systems engineer with a keen interest in hydropower, electricity generation and network technology?
Our group works with the operation and management of IT/OT systems in Vattenfall Vattenkraft's plants throughout Sweden. This means a large geographical spread of plants, which means that communication and network technology are very central to our business. This applies both between plants and within a plant. In addition to the most common protocols for IP-based communication, we also work with so-called process-related systems where we come into contact with industrial protocols that occur in process/automation.
We who are part of the group are based in Jokkmokk, Luleå and Sundsvall. Despite the distance, we work closely together in a helpful and open work environment. Our work is varied and you are offered good opportunities to be involved in influencing how we develop and manage critical IT / OT solutions at a time when hydropower is a very important part of Sweden's total electricity mix.
This is what you will be working on with us!
The work of a system engineer in network technology is creative, while we have clear regulations to adhere to. All parts of our work are characterized by IT security where we must challenge ourselves and stay one step ahead.
Our main work involves the operation and management of network components, such as switches, firewalls, wireless solutions, WiFi and LoraWAN.
We provide expert troubleshooting support and are responsible for updates, lifecycle management and commissioning of new components. In addition to our daily work with operations and management, we can also participate in projects and initiatives that need our knowledge in networks and infrastructure, then we support, for example, with the development of new solutions and / or security-enhancing measures.
We also work a lot with documenting and describing existing systems and integrations in text and using modern tools. We work with systems that have high requirements for both availability and IT security. We place great emphasis on collecting logs to higher-level systems for monitoring.
Based on your experience and competencies, you will work with one of the above and maybe also develop in a new area? Come and work with us!
Requirements specification
You may have extensive experience in network technology or be a recent graduate with some work experience. Either way, know that you will develop together with us.
Do you recognize yourself in any of the following areas?
As a systems engineer, you will need to use both your curiosity and deductive skills in various situations to move forward. The work involves both teamwork and independent work. You will be given the opportunity to travel in the service and meet magnificent hydropower plants and knowledgeable colleagues around the country.
You will feel comfortable communicating in both Swedish and English. Once you are introduced to the work, system readiness may be part of the service. You have a B driving license.
