Vattenfall Vattenkraft is responsible for Vattenfall's 90 hydropower plants and about 300 dams in the Nordic region. We are about 580 employees in Sweden and Finland with headquarters in Luleå. Hydropower's renewable electricity production is a prerequisite for creating a climate-smart and fossil-free society where we play an important role as an enabler for the sustainable energy system of the future. Our production corresponds to about 25% of Sweden's total electricity needs. To deliver high availability in our production, we need to constantly challenge ourselves, develop our working methods and take advantage of digital opportunities. You will be an important part of that work!
Hydro power is a cornerstone of Sweden's electricity system. Thanks to its flexibility and controllability, our plants can supply both base load and regulating power - a capability that is becoming increasingly important as the energy system changes and the need for balance increases.
To meet the demands of the future, our fleet of hydropower plants and dams needs to be continuously renewed. Society is facing a major transition to achieve the climate goals, which requires both more electricity and increased regulation capacity. We have high ambitions to further develop and expand hydropower within our existing facilities.
We are now recruiting a Head of Technology for Vattenfall Vattenkraft Norden
Through balanced investments and technology management, the Technology Unit will contribute to efficient and sustainable electricity production with high availability - both in the short and long term - and ensure that Vattenfall Vattenkraft meets the requirements for international acceptance and trust, such as world-class dam safety and sustainable environmental work.
You will be part of Vattenfall Hydropower's management team and lead a unit consisting of four departments and approximately 75 employees. Four managers report to you and lead the departments:
As a leader of the Technology Unit, you are interested in learning from both inside and outside the business to continuously improve ways of working and directions.
Requirements
We are looking for a committed leader with a passion for continuous development and the ability to create results together with others. As a leader, you will set clear goals and expectations in line with our strategic development plan and our values, where accountability is key.
You have an engineering background, either as a university graduate or civil engineer, and have developed a courageous and clear leadership during your career. Your strengths lie in your analytical skills, your communication style and your ability to build strong relationships with different stakeholders. You have solid experience in driving business development, leading other managers and working in management teams. Your commitment to technology, sustainability and leadership permeates your work.
We would like you to have experience in large-scale industrial operations and experience in the energy industry in particular. If you have also worked with technical areas such as plant management, electricity production and hydropower, this can be an advantage. You are business-driven, happy to share your knowledge and motivated by developing others in their roles. You have a good ability to coordinate and see the big picture in strategic contexts. You are confident in leading change and managing complex workflows.
As an experienced leader, you are active, open and proactive, with a strong safety focus. You value collaborative ways of working and have a natural drive for continuous improvement. You have good knowledge of both Swedish and English (spoken and written).
