Company description

Enabling fossil-free living that drives society forward - that's our purpose. We are looking for talented students to help us on our journey towards decarbonization. Writing a thesis at Vattenfall gives you a unique opportunity to contribute to our purpose.

About the role

About the thesis

  • At Ringhals, safe and stable operations are in focus. An important part of this work is to take good care of the turbine plants. The Process Analysis group at the Technology Department works with this, among other things. The engineers support the operation and maintenance organizations, carry out technical investigations, participate in rebuilding projects and help analyze the problem picture in the event of a shutdown or before a potential stop.
  • Now there is an opportunity to write a thesis at the Process Analysis group. We are mainly looking for thesis workers in:
  • The steam turbine process

Present what you would like to work with, and we will further develop the idea together. It is possible to simulate conditions in Ringhals plant models, e.g. those built in the software Ebsilon.

  • Performance monitoring
  • Performance monitoring aims to maximize the efficiency of the turbine plants at any given time and to identify degradations and component failures early. Investigate the possibility of further automating parts of Ringhals performance monitoring and/or introducing an AI-based component. A cost-benefit analysis would be part of the work output.
  • This assignment is for 1-2 students.

About Vattenfall

At Vattenfall, we are committed to enabling fossil freedom. To succeed, as one of Europe's largest energy companies, we must first become completely fossil-free ourselves. But that is not enough. To contribute to a fossil-free society, we need to do more than just focus on sustainable energy production.

Because we are convinced that we must enable fossil freedom, we need to look at the challenge from a broader perspective than just producing energy in a sustainable way.

Follow us on the road to fossil freedom.
