About the role

Are you passionate about collaboration and development of employees? We are now looking for a Unit Manager for Vattenfall Nuclear Fuel for the area of fuel components and performance, based in Solna.

Vattenfall Nuclear Fuel AB (VNF) has the primary task of procuring, quality assuring, dimensioning and delivering nuclear fuel to Vattenfall's nuclear power plants. We have responsibilities that span the entire life cycle until the fuel is removed from the core. VNF also delivers technical analyses and other services in the nuclear fuel area. This responsibility contributes to securing fossil-free electricity generation.

Unit description: Fuel components and performance

The unit's area of activity covers the nuclear fuel, the mechanical design and function (performance) of the components. This means that we support Forsmark and Ringhals in the qualification of new and updated fuel types. Another recurring task for the unit is the manufacturing follow-up of the fuel as part of VNF's main mission, namely the annual fuel delivery to the power plants. We provide technical support for fuel inspections at nuclear power plants and commission post-irradiation studies to verify new fuel types. We work with research and development of the fuel to ensure robust and safe operation from "cradle to grave", which means that we also work with SKB in final repository issues regarding the fuel.

As Head of Unit, you have an operational responsibility that includes personnel, budget and profit responsibility. The group consists of 10 employees. The role also requires close collaboration with other unit managers within the organization and customer dialogues with our nuclear power plants. Your duties include:

  • Leading and developing employees and activities within the unit.
  • Responsible for sub-processes linked to fuel delivery.
  • In dialogue with clients, ensure the availability of requested skills and resources.
  • Take a collaborative role between different activities. Enable and drive exchange of experience between activities to find improvement potential and learning.
  • Develop the organization towards future needs, together with other units and other stakeholders in Vattenfall's nuclear operations. Contributing and promoting common ways of working and transfer of experience between operations is a priority within the units.

We know that our employees are the key to our success. We care about your development and will always encourage you to use your skills and provide you with opportunities to grow through new challenges, training and skills transfer. With us, you will be trusted to act with great freedom and responsibility, which, together with good working conditions and mutual trust, provides a high level of flexibility and work-life balance.

Requirements

As Unit Manager you will need the following qualifications:

  • Academic education as a civil engineer.
  • Experience in the process industry or R&D activities and in working with issues related to mechanics and materials.
  • Experience of leadership from previous management positions, project management roles or through other work experience and, above all, a genuine interest in leadership and developing others.
  • Fluent in Swedish and English in speech and writing.

It is highly meritorious if you also have experience in nuclear power.

We are looking for you who have a genuine interest in people and have a desire to develop others. As a person, you are structured, take initiative and thrive in a role where you get to drive issues. You are easy to work with and have an ability to build trust and commitment. You are clear and confident in your role and enjoy taking the dialogue out in the organization as part of your communication.
