The municipality of Vestre Toten has 4 municipal and 7 private preschools with a total of approximately 560 children. See information about the preschools on our website.

The preschools in Vestre Toten participate in regional professional development in collaboration with Innlandet University, and we actively work to ensure an inclusive and nurturing preschool environment for all children.

We have an opening for a temporary position of up to 70% as a child and youth worker in a kindergarten, starting in August 2026.

The position is linked to support measures for two children who have been granted special education assistance under Section 31 of the Preschool Act at private preschools in the municipality. The employment will therefore last as long as the children require these measures and attend the preschool.

For candidates with the right qualifications and personal suitability, there may be an opportunity for continued employment or a permanent position in the future if the municipality has vacancies and a need for such expertise.

As a child and youth worker, you will play an important role in helping to ensure safe, inclusive, and enriching days for children who need special accommodations, support, and extra attention in their daily lives.

• A vocational certificate as a child and youth worker is preferred.
• Experience working in a preschool is preferred.
• Experience working with children who need support with language, communication, and social skills is an asset.
• Interest in and experience with AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) is an asset.
• Good Norwegian language skills, both spoken and written.
• A valid and approved police background check must be submitted before starting the position.

Salary Terms

The position is compensated in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, depending on seniority and education.
