Vestre Toten Municipality has 13,600 residents and is the largest industrial municipality in the Innlandet region, home to the Raufoss Business Park, which employs over 3,000 people and is experiencing strong growth and development.

Technical Operations has approximately 20 full-time equivalents distributed across two operational units—water/sewer and roads—as well as a staff of project managers and support functions.
Technical Operations is located in its own office and operational facilities in the Prøven industrial area in Raufoss. Other key locations include the Breiskallen wastewater treatment plant and the Skjelbreia water treatment plant.

Job Details

Full-time (100%) position as Road Foreman in the Roads and Parks Department at Technical Operations.
The department’s area of responsibility is the operation and maintenance of municipal roads and parks.
You will be part of a solution-oriented, cheerful team committed to continuous improvement.
The position reports to the Road Operations Unit Manager.

Area of Responsibility

  • Operation and maintenance of municipal roads and parks.
  • Planning, coordinating, and following up on daily operational and maintenance tasks.
  • Professional oversight of operational tasks related to roads and parks.
  • Lead and coordinate operational and maintenance tasks.
  • Exercise delegated responsibility.
  • Plan and carry out daily tasks.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of long-term operations and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in the planning of long-term activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, coordinate, and follow up on daily operations.
  • Daily use and updating of digital systems for road management.
  • Participate in the department’s operations and maintenance tasks.
  • Drive the department’s fleet of vehicles and machinery, including wheel loaders, motor graders, tractors, trucks, and various smaller vehicles and equipment.
  • Receive and handle inquiries from the public, as well as assess and implement necessary measures.
  • Keep track of and maintain inventory of consumables.
  • Ensure that information and instructions are communicated to the department’s employees.
  • Keep track of and ensure that vehicles and machinery are in approved condition.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment.
  • Participate in the department’s on-call schedule as needed.

Qualifications/Education

You must have a relevant trade certificate or relevant technical education.
Extensive and relevant experience may compensate for a lack of formal education.
Driver’s license, minimum class BE-C-T.

YSK professional driver certification is preferred. Be willing to complete training to obtain the necessary certification if the candidate does not already have it.
Certification for operating the machinery used by the department. Class M4 wheel loader and M3 motor grader certifications are preferred. Must be willing to complete training to obtain certification as a construction equipment operator if the candidate does not already have it.
Work zone safety training is preferred. Training must be completed if the candidate does not have the necessary qualifications for work notification.
Digital proficiency at a level required for using digital systems for road operations, procedures/non-conformities, and case management is desirable. Training will be provided.
Due to participation in an on-call schedule for snow plowing, sanding, and handling unforeseen incidents, response time to the work site will be a key consideration.

Work Experience

Experience with road and park operations and maintenance tasks is preferred.
Previous experience as a machine operator or driver is preferred.

Salary Terms
