The Viscaria Mine in Kiruna is a significant copper deposit with strong geological and technical potential. With permits in place and a clear focus on modern and sustainable mining operations, the business continues to grow. The next phase involves strengthening the organization with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.

With us, you’ll have a unique opportunity to be part of the launch of a brand-new mining operation. You’ll be part of a modern company with short decision-making chains, close collaboration, and an open, inclusive culture. You won’t just be part of the operation—you’ll help shape it. The role offers significant scope to influence, develop work methods, and set the framework for how we’ll work moving forward.

Would you like to play a key role in safety efforts as one of Sweden’s most exciting mining ventures takes shape in Kiruna?

Viscaria is working to reopen the copper mine in Kiruna and build a modern mining operation with high standards for safety, sustainability, and responsible production. We are now looking for an experienced chemical specialist who wants to help develop the structures for safe chemical handling and systematic Seveso compliance.

Here, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute during an exciting phase where procedures, systems, and work methods are being developed in preparation for future operations.

About the Role

As the Chemicals Manager, you will play a central role in Viscaria’s work with chemical management and Seveso-related issues. You will be responsible for coordinating, developing, and following up on work in this area and ensuring that the business has appropriate procedures, relevant documentation, and effective processes.

An important part of the role is working with Chemgroup, Viscaria’s chemical management system, where you will coordinate information, structure, and usage in collaboration with the relevant parts of the business.

You will also be responsible for coordinating and following up on work related to the Seveso legislation. This involves helping to ensure that relevant requirements are implemented in practice and that safety efforts are integrated into the business’s processes.

The role involves close collaboration with HSE, projects, and other functions. You need to be able to work in a structured manner with regulations and documentation, but also understand the business’s practical needs and translate requirements into effective work methods. You will coordinate occupational health and safety efforts as an HSEQ Coordinator.

Your main areas of responsibility

  • Coordinate and develop efforts related to safe chemical handling.

  • Manage and coordinate the use of the Chemgroup chemical management system.

  • Coordinate and monitor work related to Seveso legislation.

  • Develop and monitor procedures, instructions, and documentation related to chemicals.

  • Support operations in matters concerning chemical products, safety data sheets, risk assessments, and handling requirements.

  • Ensure that information on chemicals is up-to-date, structured, and accessible to relevant departments.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on issues related to chemical safety and regulatory compliance.

  • Contribute to the development of a systematic and preventive safety program for future operations.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with several years of experience in chemical management and relevant legislation within industry, process operations, the mining sector, or a similar environment. You have a solid understanding of chemical risks and enjoy taking responsibility for structure, coordination, and follow-up.

You are self-motivated and meticulous, have an analytical approach to work, and are confident in communicating with various parts of the organization. You can translate legal requirements into practical procedures and drive the work forward in collaboration with others.

We would like you to have:

  • Relevant post-secondary education in, for example, chemistry, environmental studies, occupational health and safety, or equivalent expertise gained through work experience.

  • Several years of experience in chemical management, chemical coordination, or chemical responsibility within an industrial setting.

  • Knowledge of relevant chemical regulations and experience working with the Seveso regulations.

  • Experience with chemical management systems, preferably Chemgroup.

  • Ability to work in a structured manner with documentation, procedures, and follow-up.

  • Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with various departments.

  • Proficiency in Swedish and English.

Experience developing or establishing procedures in a business under development is a plus.

Why Viscaria?

At Viscaria, you’ll have the opportunity to help build a modern mining operation from an exciting stage. You’ll have a broad scope of responsibilities with the opportunity to influence how chemical handling and Seveso-related work are structured for the future.

You’ll be part of an organization where safety and responsible production are central priorities and where your expertise can make a tangible difference.

Would you like to help shape Viscaria’s future?

We look forward to receiving your application.
