The Viscaria Mine in Kiruna is a significant copper deposit with strong geological and technical potential. With permits in place and a clear focus on modern and sustainable mining operations, the business continues to grow. The next phase involves strengthening the organization with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
With us, you’ll have a unique opportunity to be part of the launch of a brand-new mining operation. You’ll be part of a modern company with short decision-making paths, close collaboration, and an open, inclusive culture. You’re not just part of the operation—you’ll also help shape it. The role offers ample opportunity to influence, develop work methods, and set the framework for how we work moving forward.
Would you like to combine hands-on occupational health and safety work with the opportunity to develop the work environment in a new mining operation?
Viscaria is working to reopen the copper mine in Kiruna and lay the groundwork for a modern, safe, and responsible mining operation. We are now looking for an experienced occupational hygienist who wants to help identify, measure, and prevent workplace health and safety risks as the operation is being set up for future operations.
Here, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with the operations, conduct your own measurements, and develop workplaces that contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.
As an occupational hygienist, you will work to identify, investigate, and assess workplace health and safety risks, with a focus on exposure to chemical and physical factors. You will plan and conduct workplace environmental measurements yourself, analyze the results, and translate them into concrete recommendations and preventive measures.
You will play a key role in developing Viscaria’s occupational hygiene monitoring program, procedures for monitoring exposure limits, and methods for systematically tracking exposure within the organization.
The role also includes coordinating and monitoring medical examinations based on the risks associated with the business and applicable requirements. You will work closely with other relevant departments to ensure that risks are identified in a timely manner and that the appropriate measures are taken.
This is a role for someone who wants to combine specialized knowledge and practical fieldwork with the opportunity to develop structures for preventive occupational health and safety efforts.
Plan and conduct occupational health and safety measurements and occupational hygiene surveys.
Identify and assess risks associated with chemical and physical occupational health and safety factors.
Analyze measurement results and assess exposure in relation to applicable limit values.
Develop and monitor control programs for occupational hygiene and exposure.
Develop and refine procedures for measuring, documenting, and monitoring workplace health and safety risks.
Propose and follow up on measures to reduce or prevent harmful exposure.
Coordinate and follow up on medical examinations based on occupational health and safety risks and applicable requirements.
Collaborate with occupational health services, external laboratories, and other specialists as needed.
Support the organization in occupational hygiene matters and contribute to systematic and preventive occupational health and safety efforts.
We are looking for someone with several years of experience in occupational hygiene or specialized occupational health and safety work with a focus on exposure and measurements. You have a good understanding of how chemical and physical factors affect human health and can translate measurement results and regulations into practical measures.
You enjoy working independently and hands-on, while also having the ability to collaborate with others and gain buy-in for your recommendations within the organization.
We would like you to have:
Relevant college education in, for example, occupational hygiene, occupational health and safety, chemistry, occupational and environmental medicine, or equivalent expertise.
Several years of experience in occupational hygiene, workplace environmental measurements, or exposure assessments.
Practical experience in planning and conducting measurements of chemical and/or physical workplace factors.
Knowledge of relevant exposure limits, exposure risks, and risk assessment methodologies.
Experience in developing or monitoring occupational health and safety control programs and procedures.
Knowledge of regulations regarding medical examinations in the workplace.
Ability to analyze and document results and communicate recommendations clearly.
Proficiency in Swedish and English.
Experience in the mining industry, process industry, or other operations involving complex exposure risks is a plus.
At Viscaria, you’ll have the opportunity to help develop occupational health and safety efforts in a company that is preparing for a new phase. You’ll be joining at a stage where you’ll have the opportunity to influence procedures, monitoring programs, and preventive work methods.
You’ll combine practical occupational hygiene work with a long-term development assignment where your expertise helps protect people’s health and create the conditions for safe mining operations.
Would you like to help create a healthy and safe work environment at Viscaria’s future mine?
