Job duties
The job is located in Kiruna and focuses on the Viscaria Copper-Iron project, which currently sees an increase in drilling activities on near-mine exploration and ongoing mining studies.
The primary responsibilities entail conducting various types of measurements and data collection on drill cores, managing drill cores in the archive, and preparing samples. There can be additional field work tasks, including marking new drill hole locations, examining existing ones, inspecting drill rigs and sampling moraine.
This role involves working collaboratively within a team environment while also requiring the ability to work independently when necessary. This role provides a chance to build essential skills for a rewarding career in the mineral industries sector as a technician, actively engaging in mining projects. The data collected during these activities serves as the cornerstone for subsequent geotechnical, resource, and economic analyses.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone that who dares to take on new challenges and find solutions ‘outside the box’. The candidate will be expected to perform their tasks safely with accuracy and diligence. Previous work experience in a similar role or a relevant technical education is advantageous but not required.
Since the position involves both office and fieldwork, you need to have a valid B driver's license. It's advantageous (but not required) if you also have other driving qualifications, such as BE, snowmobile, and forklift (A2).
The role can be physically demanding, as many of the tasks require being on your feet and being able to lift drill core boxes. It is also advantageous if you have knowledge of the local area and are able to navigate in the field with a GPS or compass.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is a requirement. Since we have an international team, you should be able to communicate fluently in English. The ability to speak Swedish will be appreciated but is not a necessity.
