Duties
The position is located in Kiruna and focuses on Viscaria's copper-iron project, where drilling activities are now increasing in connection with nearby exploration and ongoing mining studies.
The main tasks include performing various types of measurements and data collection on drill cores, handling drill cores in the archive and preparing samples. There may also be field work, including marking new drill sites and checking existing ones, inspecting drilling rigs and sampling till.
The position involves working collaboratively as part of a team but also requires the ability to work independently when required. The role will give you the opportunity to develop key skills for a career in the mining and minerals industry, actively participating in different parts of a mining project. The data collected is crucial for further geotechnical, resource and economic analysis.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who dare to take on new challenges and think in new ways. You will be expected to perform your duties in a safe, accurate and responsible manner. Previous experience of similar tasks or a relevant technical education is an advantage, but not a requirement.
As the work involves both office and field work, a B driving license is required. BE license, forklift license (A2) and snowmobile license are meritorious.
The service can be physically demanding, as many steps involve handling drill cores and other samples. You will also need to be on your feet for long periods of time. It is an advantage if you have local knowledge and can orient yourself in the field using GPS or compass and map.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office is a requirement. Since we have an international team, you should be able to communicate fluently in English. Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage, but not a requirement.
