About the position

SSAB is in an expansive phase and is building for the future with several investments and rebuilds.

Your role means that you will, among other things, get to design and develop steel structures, machine parts and process equipment. You will participate in project meetings and contribute with your technical expertise. You will ensure that the designs meet relevant safety and environmental standards (e.g. ISO, CE).

You will also communicate and collaborate with colleagues, external suppliers and other departments to drive the work forward.

The work is to some extent independent, but great emphasis is placed on cooperation both within your own team and also the ability to work between other teams to drive and develop the section's activities.

Your main responsibilities

  • Preparation of detailed drawings and layouts for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Calculate and select optimal materials to ensure durability and cost effectiveness.
  • Participate in risk assessments and improvement work to optimize designs and processes.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute technical expertise.
  • Document design decisions and changes clearly and accurately.


About you

  • You have a university or civil engineering degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent in combination with a few years of experience, as a mechanical designer, preferably in the steel or heavy industry.
  • You have knowledge of steel grades, material properties and manufacturing processes for steel products.
  • You have experience of design in environments with high temperatures, vibrations and heavy loads.
  • You have good knowledge of CAD tools, preferably Inventor and Swedish and technical English, both orally and in writing.
  • You have an interest in innovation and development in the steel industry to improve products and processes.
  • B driving license is a requirement.
  • You have good communication skills, are structured, accurate and can work both independently and in groups.
  • You have a high safety mindset and understanding of industry requirements.
